Dr. Eric Areiter, MD is a renowned ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, LASIK/ICL, and glaucoma surgeries. He has performed over 50,000 cataract, refractive, and glaucoma procedures across the country. Originally from Long Island, New York, he graduated cum laude in Neurobiology from Cornell University, where he also worked as a regularly published researcher. He earned his MD from the University of Virginia, followed by a surgical and general medicine internship at Tufts University in Boston. He then completed his residency at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, performing the highest volume of LASIK and cataract surgery of any resident in the past decade.
Following residency, Dr. Areiter moved to Abilene, Texas, where he established a comprehensive ophthalmology department at Hendrick Medical Center. Later, while at Newsom Eye in Tampa, Florida, he became a top specialist in Light Adjustable Lenses, and was one of the top three highest volume LAL surgeons statewide within his first year. He is one of the nation’s most experienced cataract surgeons in premium lenses and combined cataract-glaucoma procedures. Dr. Areiter has published multiple research papers and ophthalmology textbooks, including “Principles and Practices of Ophthalmic Assisting.”
Some of his hobbies include tennis, cooking, and going to the beach. He got married to his wife at Disney World and he regularly does family outings to Disneyland.
